I'm an 19 year old girl, who was suffering with severe stomach pains, it effected the way I was living, I told dr monkhouse everything all my symptoms he immediately set up urgent exams for me to have done and within no time he performed surgery (fundoplication)and I am doing better than ever, he truly is a great surgeon he listens to his patients and makes sure you are back to your normal self. He certainly is someone you can trust he will put you before he puts himself.

Great overall, Simon shows a great talent to listen and explain very well. He has the ability to communicate across many levels, very effectively. He can easily explain complex issues - often using oral, visual and making simple but effective drawings. He does not come across condescending, and is always bright fresh and happy when engaging with patients. Small additional little services and gestures - mean a big deal to those in his care! - Like personal phone call to next of kin. Regular personal emails to check on progress or issues......

Simon Monkhouse removed my gallbladder in March 2017. Prior to the operation , everything about the procedure was explained clearly and professionally , and certainly put my mind at ease that I felt totally safe in his hands. Following the operation , Mr Monkhouse 's aftercare was outstanding - I am someone who really struggles with hospital and medical procedures . I am so grateful I had Simon Monkhouse carry out my operation and can't thank him enough on how he looked after me.

Mr Simon Monkhouse performed bariatric surgery on me nearly 3 years ago. All had been going well until recently when I started to regurgitate food periodically and have some issues with swallowing. I buried my head in the sand hoping things would get better on their own (nothing surgically had gone wrong, it was due to scar tissue forming) On Friday at work I became grey, clammy, sweaty, pains in my chest and trouble swallowing. I phoned Simon who called me straight back. I had an emergency deflate, and an ECG. However there was not much difference to before the deflate. Simon told me to go straight to SAU at East Surrey Hospital, where he would brief the on call team and arrange for a CT scan to see if I had a band slippage. He looked at my results, and nothing untoward showed up. As I was able to swallow a bit more, and would have someone at home Simon allowed me to go home. On Saturday he kept in touch with me to assess my progress. But the time Sunday had arrived, I was regurgitating water, and couldn't even swallow yoghurt. Although it was Simons day off, he phoned to speak to me and advised me to go straight back to the hospital, where he would come in and operate on me to un clip my band. He was so reassuring and calm, even though I told him I was really scared. He saw me before I was put to sleep and explained the procedure to me. I felt very safe in his hands and thoroughly trusted him throughout. Simon kept up to date on my progress, and came in to see me on Monday morning to discharge me. Simon is a complete professional, he has unlimited empathy with his patients and is such a genuine person. I would have no problem in recommending him to anyone, and whoever has him as a surgeon is very lucky and in safe hands.

Mr Monkhouse has been great, very informative, caring and knowledgeable. He explained everything thoroughly and gave me plenty of time to ask questions so that I went away knowing I could make an informed choice about choosing to have surgery. I always felt I could call him with any questions or worries. I decided to go ahead with the surgery and I'm extremely happy with the results, the op went well and recovery has been quicker than I expected.
